Project Description
Project developed in the discipline of Design Atelier II, Product Design Masters course, Superior School of Arts and Design (Caldas da Rainha - Portugal)
This project aims to create objects that help with momentary anxiety control, are objective of controlled fidgeting and avoid self-destructive behaviors.
What is fidgeting:
The act of moving without rest in a repetitive and continuous way. It may involve playing with your fingers, hair or personal belongings (ex: glasses, pens and rings). It is often a subconscious act and is increased during spontaneous mental folly. Some researchers have proposed that this restlessness is a subconscious attempt to increase excitment to improve attention. This act reduces cortisol levels, a stress hormone.
Basically, fidgeting represents a behavioral mechanism for coping with stress and anxiety.
